Foreshore Breakers win 2011 State Teams Title

Foreshore Breakers

The Foreshore team break through to win their first State team tile in 17 years, played at the Launceston Workers Club on March on 19th & 20th, 8 teams and 60 players from around state competed for the prestigious title of Team Champions

After the 7 rounds of round robin play the Foreshore team found themselves in 3rd position on the ladder and having to face the HWC Niners in the preliminary final with the winner to advance to the final to play the top of the ladder team, the Alexander Red from Devonport

The preliminary final match went down to the wire with scores being 9 all going into the last set with the Foreshore team managing to win 13 - 11 with the veteran Geoff Youd winning a great tactical match against Andrew Triffitt

The final proved just as close as match as the preliminary final with the Devonport team winning 4 - 2 in the last set to salvage a draw at 12 all, this resulted in both teams putting up 5 players each in a race to 3, unfortunately the strength of the Foreshore team saw them warp up the play-off 3 nil and deny Devonport a State team title after being runner up on 4 previous occasions

Trent Brooks from Alexander Red was player of the carnival winning 25 frames from 27 played a great effort in a field of over 20 current and past State team players
