Tasmanian Open Team Complete 2011

Justin Van Diepen made a great return to State 8ball qaulifying in the number 1 position with 32 wins and 14 loses, played at the Launceston Workers Club on July 16th and 17th the field of 24 players were competing for 9 positions to make up the team to compete at the Australian championships in Sydney in October, the weekend saw some new and old faces make the team and no doubt the team will have some hard work to put in before October to enable themselves the best chance of victory at the national championships. The final team is Anthony Adams (State Singles Winner), Justin Van Dipen, Marcus Jackson, Trent Brooks, Andrew Saltmarsh, Andrew Triffitt, Dallas Nichols, Chris Forsyth, Joel Smith, Cale Barrett

State Open Team Qualifyers 2011 - State Team Selection

The final round for the 2011 State Open Team will be played at the LWC on June 16th and 17th, the final round has been moved forward by 2 weeks from our normal date of the last weeknd in July to enable the open team time to organise practice matches throughout the State as put forward by last years team captain (Jeremy McGuire), it will now be interesting if these practice sessions take place - lets hope so and try and unite a strong open team for an assult on the 2011 National title

State Open Team Qulaifyers 2011 - Rd 2

The final qulaifying rounds of the State open team was played at the LWC (North) and HWC (South) on June 25th and 26th

From the North Callan Bissett topped the leader board followed by Gerrad Wicks and Andrew Saltmarsh, the southern qualifyers saw Marcus Jackson on top followed by Sam Thurgood and Justin Van Diepen who has not played State 8ball since 2002

The final round for the 2011 State team will be played at the LWC on July 16th and 17th and from the 24 players competing, 9 players will join the State singles champion Anthony Adams to make up the 2011 team to compete at the Australian 8ball championships in Sydney from Monday October 17 to Friday October 28

State Open Team Qualifiers 2011 - Rd 1

The first round of State open team qualifyers was played at the LWC (North) and HWC (South) on May 28th and 29th

The North had 28 entries and the South had 15 entries, at the completion of round 1 for the North, Callan Bissett leads the way followed by new comer Gerrad Wicks and young gun Cale Barrett in 3rd position

The South have played part of their 3rd round and the 2011 State open singles runner up Marcus Jackson leads the way with 28 wins and 8 losses, followed by former Northern Territory play Sam (Sammy) Thurgood on 28 wins and 9 losses

The final rounds for both areas will be played on June 25th and 26th with the top 23 players then going through to the final for State team qualifying to be played on July 16th and 17th at the LWC

Reminder entries close for the State Team Qualifiers (North - LWC) & (South - HWC) on Wednesday May 25th with the first round to be played at the venues on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May starting at 9am

Reminder to players that dress code applies for this event - black trousers, shirt with collar and dress shoes - fines will apply for people who do not where the correct dress standard and asked to go home and change to the correct dress standard

This year all qualifiers will be played over the two weekends, regardless of the amount of entries received in each area and players may play each other 4 times instead of the normal 2 times

It looks like there will be 23 positions available as David Lee, the winner of the calcutta will be taking his position straight into the last 24, the final number and split for each area will be notified on the second weekend of play (June 25th & 26th)
